The Problem With Sleep | Ep. 188
Today, I delve into a topic that holds immense importance to me: sleep.
We've touched upon it before, highlighting its significance in energy management and overall well-being.
Sleep not only allows our bodies to recover and our minds to rejuvenate, but it also plays a crucial role in setting our mood and energy levels for the day ahead.
Recently, I came across a fascinating article that revealed a surprising finding: consistently getting a solid seven to eight hours of sleep per night for four years was linked to the same levels of happiness as attending therapy for four weeks or winning the lottery.
It's incredible to think that a good night's sleep can provide such elevated mood and euphoria, lasting throughout the day.
However, in the world of high achievers and entrepreneurship, there exists a mindset that diminishes the value of sleep, associating it with weakness.
But chronic sleep deprivation has severe long-term consequences for our mental and physical health.
I've personally shifted my perspective on sleep over the years, realizing the importance of prioritizing quality rest over the constant grind.
This is a common challenge for many driven individuals who feel guilty or ashamed when they wake up later and perceive themselves as lagging behind others.
As peak performers, it's difficult for us to find solace and peace of mind when we're not actively pursuing our goals.
But it's crucial to recognize that playing the long-term game requires self-care and a balance between work and rest.
So if you're grappling with this challenge, know that you're not alone.
Prioritize sleep, rest, and recovery. Your body deserves it, and it will enable you to deliver your best when the time comes.
